Recently on Hacker News there was a post where a guy showed some interesting graphs from logging 10 years of his life — https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29692087
The guy is 27 years old, American of Asian descent. Since age 17, he logs everything, even the mode of transportation he uses. He doesn't use social media. He plays 9 musical instruments. A programmer at Duolingo. There's an excellent life-graph on the front page of his site (https://chaidarun.com).
In the comments to that post, people share their experiences tracking their own activities. There's a cool Turkish designer (makes posters, a linked history of Western philosophy, for example) who tracks himself in great detail, down to what he ate (fish/meat/eggs) — https://www.denizcemonduygu.com/portfolio/vital-signs/.
In the end, he just got tired of tracking, even though he's a beast at it, of course. But tracking music, food, emotional variables — that's about egoism.
We humbly argue that the main thing in Life is Work. Man is born to work. And what should be tracked is only the time spent on Work. The rest is background, of no value to the Universe. What someone ate, what bus they took — that's fluff and self-indulgence, albeit a very human thing.
LaborGit is about Work. About the memory of your Work on Earth. You yourself are not important. What's important is your Work. Work is never in vain!
Install LaborGit, try tracking your Work, and we will preserve it.
