I love traveling through Google Maps. It breaks the boundaries of consciousness. Refreshing.

Today I grabbed myself by the scruff of the neck and threw myself into the Greek city of Patras.

You walk the streets, noticing details: manhole covers, mailboxes, some graffiti here, signs in Greek, no English at all, windows with curtains and lots of Greek flags. What does it tell you?

We went out onto the bridge between the Peloponnese peninsula and the mainland with the kid. There goes a Greek on a motorcycle. It's hot, but he's riding without a cap. He's carrying tomatoes and zucchini in two small transparent bags on the handlebars. We laughed.

The most interesting part, of course, is the faces. Pity you can't see them.

Prokudin-Gorsky's big mistake was not filming ordinary faces enough. Landscapes, churches, cities, machines - yes. But not people. The ones he did film were all in artificially festive outfits. A bit empty.

I want there to be a business like this - online tours through Google Maps with a live guide. Maybe it already exists?
