44. Потерять и дальше строить.

With age comes the desire to build something. I don't know about women, for men for sure. People are different, of course, and find themselves in different circumstances, but the need to build and make a nest is wired in biologically. Step by step, brick by brick, enjoying yourself in between. Not ashamed in front of yourself and your woman. If you did nothing in a day, you feel bad in the evening.

It doesn't matter what, but build, improve. One adds annexes, like an ant hill. Another tears everything down and rebuilds from scratch, with scale. A fourth is raising a temple, like in The Pillars of the Earth. A third goes for football and TV. People are different.

Age plays a big role here. In youth there's no time for construction. You need to try everything, visit everywhere, see everything. And then the marginal utility of pleasures becomes zero, then negative, somewhere around here health starts talking to you, and you suddenly start looking around. Who am I? Where am I? Where am I going? Why do I need this?

It's good if there was an example of building in the family, consider yourself lucky. You quickly find your path. Or a woman demands coziness - you'll also quickly head in the right direction. The huge role of a wife deserves a separate mention. She is a whole universe. A man without a woman is incomplete.

In short, one day you come to your construction. You create. You make. You find meaning and peace. The joy of creation is the greatest kick on Earth. Here you belong to something higher, divine. You definitely need someone for whom you do this. Doing it for yourself is a dead end. Look for who you're building for. That someone always exists.

There is, of course, the risk of losing everything. It's a pity to lose, but it's not the end of the world. Your experience will remain. Pick yourself up and build anew. The process matters more than the result. In Japan there is a temple that is rebuilt every 20 years. I.e. it is completely dismantled and reassembled on a neighboring site, entirely from new materials. And it is considered the same temple that is 2000 years old. Because gods, in the Japanese view, do not like decay and need constant renewal. I.e. the meaning is the very process, movement, construction.
