31. RussiaCloud

I used AWS for many years, but I always knew it couldn't be trusted, that we were strangers to them, that sooner or later we would have to move.

That's why as soon as I learned about docker, I immediately moved my servers and database into containers, because switching hosts becomes radically simpler if the project lives in docker containers.

And now I'm choosing a domestic cloud infrastructure provider.

It turned out the choice exists and it's quite decent.

I settled on three candidates: YandexCloud, Selectel and SberCloud.

The friendliest, clearest, most pleasant one is Selectel. What I didn't like is that you have to pay if the server is turned off and there are no discounts for reserving 3 years ahead like in AWS.

YandexCloud is fine too. Lots of services, you can save on the CPU by choosing 20% load. And it seemed the server in the minimum configuration runs faster than the equivalent one at Selectel. Besides, 2 months of free use.

Sber let me down, though I'm very loyal to it and root for it with all my heart. But in 2 sessions of 1.5 hours each I couldn't even bind a public IP to a freshly created server. I decided I had no right to waste any more of my time on these dances. Maybe someday I'll give SberCloud another chance.

Right now I'm deploying the LaborGit server side in parallel on Selectel and YandexCloud. One of them will go to cold storage, the other will become the main platform.

The main takeaway - it turns out Russia had full-fledged analogues of AWS all along, for about the same money. Respect, guys!
